Ben Johnson ended up staying in the golden state working as a horse wrangler in westerns and as a stuntman for such western stars as John Wayne and Gary Cooper. After working forseveral years in Hollywood, Ben Johnson was started to get get supporting roles in films and even got a starring role in the 1950 film, Wagon Master . He then briefly quit acting and went back to the rodeo circuit and in 1953 was World's Champion Steer Roper.
