George Kennedy (1925 - )

American character actor who specialized in playing beefy,cigar-chomping problem solvers. George Kennedy didn't start acting until after a 16 year career in the army, which started when he enlisted during the second world war. George Kennedy made his film debut in the 1961 film The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come and from then on he would work consistantly, although some say that his best work was done in the 60's and early 70's. Career highlighst include Charade (1963), Airport ( 1970),The Dirty Dozen (1967). In the 1990's George Kennedy played Leslie Nielsen's partner, Captain Ed Hocken, in the Naked Gun movies.
