Ed Begley (1901 - 1970)

American character actor with stage, radio, and screen experience. Born of Irish parents in 1901, Ed Begley began preforming as a child. As an adult Ed Begley became a profession radio actor before making his debut on Broadway in 1943. He made the transition to films in 1947 and was very busy from then on acting in supporting roles, the majority of them as cranky old men.. In the 1950's he started to get bigger and better parts such as his role in the 1957 film 12 Angry Men (as juror #10). Ed Begley is the father of actor Ed Begley, Jr.
