More About Steve Martin...

Steve Martin was born Stephen Glenn Martin on August 14, 1945 in Waco, Texas.

Studied Philosophy at Long Beach State University, Calif., and was considering becoming a Philosophy professor, before deciding on being a comedian, writer and actor. After high school, Steve worked at Knott's Berry Farm "Bird Cage Theater," as a comedian.

Had audiences convulsing in laughter, with his comedy routines, perfect for T.V. Shows.

Trademarks: Wearing the arrow through the head prop. "I'm just a wild and crazy guy!" Shouting: "Well, excuuuuuse me!"

Earned an Oscar nomination for his theatrical short, where he directed himself, THE ABSENT-MINDED WAITER.

Received kudos for his comedic acting talent and some awards for his role in the clever comedy, ALL OF ME.

He grew in his profession, by pulling back on his wild comedic style, and took "straight roles," that required a kinder and gentler type of humor, which he also excelled at. ROXANNE, PARENTHOOD, FATHER OF THE BRIDE, and L.A. STORY.

He tackled serious roles in GRAND CANYON, LEAP OF FAITH, a Broadway stage play, WAITING FOR GODOT, and a mystery / thriller, NOVOCAINE.

His 1999 hit, BOWFINGER, gives the audience a hilarious look through a satirical eye at low budget movie making and the Hollywood system.
