Joan Crawford entered the movie business as a dancer in 1925. She was known as a glamorous personae, who excelled in dramatic roles, ranging from socialites to housewives.

Her stardom took off in the 1930's, while working for MGM, in such films as GRAND HOTEL, NO MORE LADIES, and LOVE ON THE RUN.

Joan's defining role was in the 1945 Warner Brother classic, MILDRED PIERCE, where she played a housewife who turns into a successful business woman. Joan Crawford won her Best Actress Oscar for her performance.
