Charles "Charlie" Chaplin was one of the first super stars of cinema, and he made the transition from the silent era to the talkies. Charlie Chaplin's silent classics include: "The Kid", "One A.M.", and "The Gold Rush".

When he started doing "talkies", his defining role was in "City Lights". Other notable Charlie Chaplin films include: "Modern Times", "The Great Dictator", and "Monsieur Verdoux".

Many like to think Charlie Chaplin paved the way for other such prodigies like Jerry Lewis, Woody Allen, and Robin Williams. But, as "People" one quoted, "Unlike them, unlike anyone else, he got the whole world to agree." More
